“The House of Representatives has just passed a landmark Farm Bill – a bill that plots out a healthy future for not just our farmers, but for all of us.

“Wendell Berry once said, ‘If you eat, you’re involved in agriculture.’ Today, the truth is much broader than that. Not only if you eat, but also if you’re interested in a secure and practical energy future for our country.

“A great deal of hard work and negotiation went into arriving at this legislation. I’m particularly pleased that it recognizes the importance of sustainable agriculture, which is important to the 2nd District’s economy and farming future. I hope that down the line, we’ll see further reductions to subsidies going to wealthy corporate farmers, but this bill represents real progress. I congratulate Agriculture Committee Chairman and Minnesota 7th District Congressman Collin Peterson on this achievement.”
